A lot happens on install day — here’s what it looks like from start to finish.

Materials are typically delivered the day before your install. One of our team members will give you a heads up and coordinate a delivery spot so nothing is a surprise.

Install day starts around 8am with your roof advisor and our quality control technician meeting you and the crew at the jobsite. Tarps and protective coverings go down around the house, and any breakable or meaningful items near the home — plants, decorations — are protected before work begins. Safety harnesses go on, and tear-off starts.
Everything we do is photo documented throughout the day. If we find unexpected conditions — additional layers, decking that needs attention — we stop, communicate with you, and create a change order before moving forward. No surprises on your invoice.

As tear-off progresses, the crew maintains a clean workspace continuously — debris doesn’t pile up and wait. Once the deck is clear, we inspect every board for soundness and gaps. From there, installation follows a deliberate sequence: drip edge on the eaves, ice and water barrier installed to 24 inches inside the warm wall (Montana code), then synthetic underlayment across the remainder of the roof. At that point your home is completely dried in and waterproof regardless of what comes next.

Depending on permit requirements, photos are submitted to the city or a mid-point inspection takes place. Drip edge goes on the rakes, starter strip is installed on eaves and rakes, and field shingles follow. Pipe flashings, roof-to-wall transitions, and chimney flashings are installed per Owens Corning installation instructions and Montana code. Ventilation — intake on the eaves, exhaust at the ridge or through box vents or turbines — is installed and ridge caps finish the field.

Final details are attended to, nails are caulked, gutters are cleaned, and all remaining waste goes in the dump trailer. The yard is rolled for nails. The crew lead and our quality control tech walk the roof together. If anything needs attention it becomes a punchlist item addressed as quickly as possible — your advisor follows up the next day if needed.

We leave the site cleaner than we found it. That’s not a tagline, it’s just how we work.

One thing worth knowing — Montana weather doesn’t always cooperate. If conditions become unsafe mid-job, we’ll call it. Before we do, we make sure your roof is completely protected so your home is never left vulnerable overnight. Your crew’s safety and the integrity of your project both matter, and we won’t compromise either. We’ll be back as soon as conditions allow.
